PECB credential hierarchy: Provisional Crisis Manager → Crisis Manager → Lead Crisis Manager → Senior Lead Crisis Manager, based on professional experience and attested crisis management activity hours. Maintained through continuing professional development (CPD) credits.

What will PECB charge to maintain the PECB Certified Lead Crisis Manager credential?

PECB’s current maintenance policy lists no maintenance fee for Foundation, Provisional, or Transition credentials. For all other PECB certifications, the published fee is $390 per three-year certification cycle, together with the applicable CPD requirements and continued adherence to the PECB Code of Ethics. PECB sets this fee and may change it, so check the linked policy before renewal.

Can I pay in NZD or another currency, and when is Australian GST added?

Yes. Every Academy course supports AUD and multiple local currencies, including NZD, USD, SGD, GBP, EUR, INR, AED, MYR, PHP, IDR, and VND when a live quote is available. What is ISO 22361?

ISO 22361 provides guidelines for crisis management — how an organisation develops the capability to anticipate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from crises. It covers the crisis management framework (leadership, structure, culture, competence), crisis communications, and continual improvement of that capability.

Can an organisation be certified against ISO 22361?

No. ISO 22361 is a guidelines standard rather than a requirements standard — much like ISO 31000 — so there is no organisational certification against it. What exists is individual certification: the PECB Lead Crisis Manager credential attaches to you, not to your employer. If you need a certifiable management system for disruption, ISO 22301 for business continuity is the requirements standard.

What is the difference between crisis management and business continuity?

Business continuity restores defined operations after a disruption you planned for, with recovery objectives set in advance. Crisis management handles situations that are novel, escalating, and often reputational as well as operational — where the task is to lead and decide under uncertainty rather than execute a plan. Many organisations run both, with ISO 22301 for continuity and ISO 22361 for crisis capability.

Which credential do I receive?

It depends on attested experience. Provisional Crisis Manager requires none. Crisis Manager requires two years with one in crisis management plus at least 200 hours of activities. Lead Crisis Manager requires five years with two in crisis management plus 300 hours. Senior Lead Crisis Manager requires ten years with seven plus 1,000 hours. All require signing the PECB Code of Ethics.

How is the exam structured?

Three hours across four competency domains: fundamental concepts and principles of crisis management; establishing the crisis management framework; crisis management prevention and preparedness; and crisis management response and recovery.

Do I need business continuity experience first?

No. The course teaches crisis management from fundamentals. Prior continuity, incident response, or emergency management experience will help you contextualise the material, but none is a prerequisite.

What CPD credits do I earn?

Thirty-one CPD credits — an attestation of course completion is issued on finishing the course. These count toward the CPD requirements of ISACA, IIA Australia, and other professional bodies on submission.
