ISO 45001 Lead Implementer — Frequently Asked Questions

Do you run live or in-person classes for this course?

This course is sold as self-paced study, but yes — we also deliver it live. Aegentra runs instructor-led cohorts with a certified PECB trainer, and in-person classroom sessions at our Melbourne and Sydney CBD offices. For enterprise teams we deliver on-site at your office on a schedule that suits you. Live and in-person pricing depends on cohort size and the standard, so it is quoted rather than listed — email Academy@aegentra.com.au with your headcount and preferred dates and we will come back with a quote.

What is ISO 45001 and how does it relate to OHSAS 18001?

ISO 45001 is the first global occupational health and safety management system standard, and it replaced OHSAS 18001. Organisations previously certified to OHSAS 18001 have migrated to ISO 45001, which uses the Annex SL structure shared with ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 and places greater emphasis on leadership, worker participation, and integration with wider business processes.

Is this course available with eLearning?

No. ISO 45001 Lead Implementer is offered as slide-based self-study only at $975 + GST.

How does ISO 45001 relate to Australian WHS law?

They are complementary but distinct. WHS Acts and Regulations impose legal duties on persons conducting a business or undertaking; ISO 45001 is a voluntary management system standard that provides a structured way to meet and evidence those duties. Certification does not itself demonstrate legal compliance, but a well-implemented OH&S MS is a strong basis for it.

Which credential do I receive?

It depends on attested experience. Provisional Implementer requires none. Implementer requires two years of professional experience with one in OH&S management plus 200 hours of project activities. Lead Implementer requires five years with two in OH&S management plus 300 hours. Senior Lead Implementer requires ten years with seven in OH&S management plus 1,000 hours. All require signing the PECB Code of Ethics.

How is the exam structured?

Seven competency domains: fundamental principles and concepts of OH&S and an OH&S MS; initiation of an OH&S MS implementation; planning; implementation; OH&S MS performance evaluation; continual improvement; and preparing for an OH&S MS certification audit.

What is the IMS2 methodology?

IMS2 is PECB’s own management system implementation methodology — a structured sequence for initiating, planning, implementing, evaluating, and improving a management system, then preparing it for certification audit. Because the method is not standard-specific, it transfers to implementing ISO 9001, ISO 27001, or any other Annex SL standard.

Does this course certify my company?

No. The course certifies you as an individual practitioner. To certify the organisation you need to build the OH&S MS, run an internal audit, and pass a Stage 1 / Stage 2 audit by an accredited certification body. This course teaches you how to do that work and how to prepare for that audit.

Is the exam included in the price?

Yes. Certification fees are included in the course price, and in case of exam failure you can retake the exam within 12 months free of charge.

What CPD credits do I earn?

Thirty-one CPD credits — a participation certificate is issued on completing the course. These count toward the CPD requirements of the Australian Institute of Health and Safety, ISACA, IIA Australia, and other professional bodies on submission.

Is GST included in the price?

No. Prices are shown exclusive of GST. Australian GST is calculated and added at checkout, and Stripe issues a compliant tax invoice with our ABN automatically.

Can my employer pay or reimburse?

Yes. Either complete checkout yourself and forward the Stripe tax invoice for reimbursement, or write to Academy@aegentra.com.au and we will issue an invoice direct to your organisation with payment terms. Groups of five or more receive a discount.

When can I start the course?

Immediately after payment. The Academy team confirms your seat with PECB and you receive login details by email — usually within one business day.

How long do I have access to the course?

You have 12 months of access from enrolment. That window covers the course material, the official PECB exam, and one free resit if you need it.

What if I fail the exam?

One PECB-issued resit is included in your enrolment at no extra cost. Most learners who use the included study materials and sit the resit within 30 days pass on their second attempt.

Can my employer be invoiced directly?

Yes. Either complete the checkout yourself and forward the Stripe tax invoice to your employer for reimbursement, or write to Academy@aegentra.com.au and we will issue an invoice to your organisation with payment terms.

Is the credential recognised internationally?

Yes. PECB is an accredited certification body recognised globally. The credential is the same one issued through any authorised PECB training partner — recognised by employers, audit bodies, and government tenders worldwide.

Do you offer group bookings for teams?

Yes. Groups of five or more receive a discount and can be enrolled with a single invoice. Write to Academy@aegentra.com.au with the course, number of seats, and start window.

What is your refund policy?

All enrolments are non-refundable. Once payment is confirmed your PECB seat is provisioned and the course materials become available, so refunds cannot be issued. Please review the course details carefully before purchase, and email Academy@aegentra.com.au if you have questions before enrolling.
